| I found some great Spanish reales in cuts and in the dry sand with my XLT when I first started beach hunting but down by the water in the wet sand you really have to concentrate to hear signals over the constant loud chatter, in closing it works fine on the beach away from the wet. |

| If your after a beach machine i would have a look at a sovereign, switch on and go, stable on dry and wet sand with good depth. If your looking for programs for the xlt have a look on the net |

I use the Sovereign GT as my main beach machine over my Excal , Ninjafox is right there are loads of XLT settings and custom programs on the net which will help you out if you already have an XLT if you have not got one and your thinking of getting one for beach hunting you might want to think again if your going near the wet.

Don't forget the Yanks get 16 inches on a coin in the wet sand with the XLT. Now if you try the same programme you will be looking at nearer six.
Salt and wet don't suit the machine. The easy option is to get a Sovereign but I would keep the XLT for land and dry sand use.
If you have large beaches you could pick up a Bigfoot coil (18" but about the same weight as the stock 9.5) and strip the length of the top of the beach of recent finds whilst the twin/multifrequency boys are still working the first hundred yards. |

| I think 16 US inches converts to aprox 8 European inches in most cases. When I meet other people detecting I always take a crafty look at their settings in between telling them that I have not found anything. Most of them use high levels of discrimination or "cherry picking" as they say over here and I see a lot of "bigfoot" users swinging the XLT and MXT in the dry sand. |
