I am looking for something easy to use (not that experiences) but will allow me to locate metorites ( metal/iron) and in thick brush areas for other searches.
Any recomendations would be apprecitated.

You have a difficult task.
Coil size should be 8"-12", You have to use a true all metal setting with auto tune or S.A.T. (self adjusting threshold).
Pinpoint modes on detectors won't do in many cases. You have to have a machine that will accept way down in the iron reject range as size for size an 'iron' meteorite will read lower than iron due to contaminants.
Then you need the site. Should be flat as possible with little or no rubbish/hot rocks etc as you will be digging everything.
This normally restricts people to desert areas or up towards the poles.
One machine thats often used is the Whites XLT because you can adjust everything to suit your needs. The normal detectors brief is to build something thats not sensitive to iron. |
