what do you do with your finds? do you collect them, sell them, collect certain things and sell anyhing else?

I wait until I have a few ounces of gold rings then I send them off to the refiners and spend the dosh on holidays or detector upgrades . The wife gets the expensive rings with stones in , which gets me plenty of "Sure you can go detecting anytime you want to" detecting credit. I keep all the old stuff.

Sell them. Reason (1) I needed the money (2) I always think I'm going to find something better next week (3) I've had three break ins so daren't keep to much in the house. Bank deposit box around £40 + £5 every time you want to open it (4) If you don't check items regularly you find bronze disease has run riot (5) You find a rare coin, a year or two later a few hoards have come up and its just not that rare anymore

You need the best equipment which means not just one detector as there's still not one that does it all.

I do keep rare finds if allowed so I do have Roman and Celtic statues, Bronze axe, arrow heads etc. If it a duplicate coin I keep the best and sell the rest. With pre 47 and pre 20's silver I do build that up until I've got sufficient and the metal price is up to negotiate a good price.

At the moment, I am just finding coins and junk from local parks as I am a newbie. But, I plan to cash in the coins whenever I have a decent amount to buy something nice Smile

Old coins, I will keep to remind me of why I do it.

I spose anything I find that's nice, I will either let my girls have, or the wife Rolling Eyes

Found anything? No nothing , any luck yourself? No nothing, wish I had an ever falling dollar for everytime Ive been in one of those conversations. Its that nice little old chatty person who rats you out everytime to the next detectorist coming onto the beach, that English guy just found a diamond ring over there. My advice , No nothing !
