Helo All,
This morning just as I was packing up(Yeh!! Yeh!!!) I got a strong signal 4" down which resulted in our first ever token.
The middle section at the top had a star then the letter B then a star.At the bottom of the middle section on the right was the letter H.
At the top of the token was a star followed by the name Nathan running a round the edge.
It was found at Witham in Essex if that's any help?
I bought the detector at Christmas for my son and we are both excitedly awaiting information about our find.
Thanks to anyone who can shed some light.

Have a look here to see if there's one similar, failing that, register (it's free) and upload pictures of it to the database if it's in good enough condition. If it's not in great nick put it up on their forum and one of the validators might be able to help.

Hello Ben,
After scouring the internet for a while I found our token.
It was issued by Nathaniell Boosey of Bocking(Essex) and the date (which is not on the coin) is uncertain but possibly between 1642 and 1675.
I was talking to the editor of Treasure Hunting magazine and he has never found a token in over 35 years of detecting and we found one on our second serious attempt!!!!
We won't get carried away tough, because the site we are searching is throwing up lots of Roman pottery, Roman lead and nails but no coins.
I must say that I am hooked now and can't wait til the weekend to finish our first field.

Glad you found your token Dave, it must be a small field! I've spent 5 days on a 4 acre field so far and only covered a quarter properley, had about 40 buttons, 4 hammered from a 1204 cut half to a Charles I sixpence, a William III sixpence, loads of knackered coppers, tokens, jetons and cloth seals, pistol and musket balls. I know that there's really good stuff in amongst all the rammel but it takes so much time and concentration to pick out the good stuff and make sure you cover every inch of ground. Lets see a picture of this token then... |

Bear with me and I'll try to get an image that will be clear enough to view.
Cheers Dave. |

Ooops!!!
I've seen some other posts. Hello Jamie, it isn't the largest field and we've only worked it for a couple of hours at a time.
However I would get round faster if I remembered to turn the detector back on after stopping to dig which has happened frequently.
Thanks for replying
