| Ok i am 46 years old and all of a sudden i find this urge to go metal detecting,mid life crisis or something..Anyway i want to start of gently and was looking at the garrett Ace 150 ,the viking vk10 or the bounty hunter fast tracker.Any advice on these three would be most appreciated.Many thanks |

Take the Garrett, if you can afford it, go for the 250 instead of the 150. They´re both good machines, the 250 just has a few extra´s.  |

| have you cnsidered a second hand machine?. for the same money as the ace 250 you could have a better machine.. what kind of land will you be specialising in?.. IE farmalnd, beach etc |

| Wise words malachite I am with you on that one, the older Whites clasic range can be found cheap, possibly a bargain Tesoro if you get lucky, or C Scope CS2M, etc. All good honest machines with no unwanted gimmicks. |

| I hope to be using it on farmland and wooded areas with the occasional bit of beach use as i frequent norfolk quite a bit. |
