| i have a roman silver hoard along with a silver bird broochlip, going throgh the required channels now, it appears the musium wANTS TO BUY IT AND I,M WAITING ON VALUATION NOW |

Wow. If I found a hoard I'd be all paranoid and checking the rear view mirror on the drive to a site in case I was being followed by nighthawkers - but then I'm neurotic.
Can you give us any indication of how large the hoard is, or is that top secret?

there was just less than a hundred coins if you want to count the broken ones, i believe the biggest part is still there as we found not one shred of pottery,
the fields now under a foot of water so its safe.

I've got waders and an underwater detector.
Best of luck with finding more. Wonder if the over soaking of the flooding will add some detection depth.
When the park at Barnstaple, N.Devon, went under water for a few days the finds rate went right up directly afterwards. |
