All the Red Heats are very good, all hand made by an English company. Only downside is it´s a one man band, and if he´s sick it can take a while to get any repairs done, but they certainly do the business. |

One thing. How is your hearing ? If you have industrial hearing loss of any tones you might have problems I.D.'ing iron.
I think !! that they produced two models in each range in the early days. One with notch.... avoid if your hearings not great and the other with an iron switch to aid its identification. |

Hi.
This one is on its way to me!! i won the bid and got it for £166 plus £10 p and p.
Looking foreward to trying it out although i bought it so my moaner of a girlfriend can come with me and i can use it as a spare or try it sometimes for a change from my sov GT.
What i WILL ask from anyone here who has a red heat or used one..what differences should i expect using this over my sov gt? |

Its going to be night and day for you.
Your using a fairly heavy slow sweep machine that isn't the best choice for spoil heaps, industrial foreshores like the Thames.
You have bought one of the lightest machines on the market pre the Tesoro uMax designs.
Very sharp on small targets, much more forgiving of sweep speed. Very good in heavy iron and on spoil heaps.
This is in general...I didn't see your machine on E-Bay/model type/coil size but its true of the whole range. You have made a good move in getting a detector that fills in the weaknesses in your present set up. Don't expect to use it to much effect on the wet sand but the GT is excellent there so you now have all bases covered. |

go for it Samy, you can always ebay it if its not up to scratch, and get probably more than your money back
I have read that a detector in a scratchy condition is the sign of a good detector as it is a favorite and gets more use(how true it is i don't know) |

either that or it was a rubish detector that got taken out once and kicked back accross the field to the car for being crap
then taken to the nearest second hand shop to be traded in for pennys as noone in the know whould touch it with a bargepole |
