I would have to disagree having owned breifly it was an average machine and liked iron. The coin on top of iron bar demonstration was very impressive but just trickery this test could not be replicated in the soil. The massive in air depth test on the 4" x 4" copper plate as seen on you tube was also trickery any machine can do this providing the ground balance is set way out of calibration as im sure the demo machine was at the time.
Dealers would not give you squat for them, that must say something

| The older (First generation weren´t as good as the later models, but the 4 inch copper plate wasn´t trickery, check out some of the European test on them, they are highly rated, but had a steep learning curve, and Vic being ill, didn´t alway´s have the time to give the back up the machine deserved. |

| I believe his email is still operating (His wife looking after correspondence), so maybe there´s something in the pipeline, I honestly don´t know. I hope the make survives, and my thoughts are with his wife June, and the family. |

The last address I had was 45 Crawford Rise, Arnold, Nottingham NG5 8QF and I've got a phone number but it would be better to write or e-mail so June doesn't feel under pressure.
There seems to be differences of opinion on the Red Heats but as I said in an early post you needed good hearing or to getting a version with the optional iron switch might help. They did develop from the Silver Saber platform. Some were lemons and it was difficult to get repairs even under warranty (and I'm talking a few years back now).
As for the various demo tricks other machines do them as well or better. Think it was the Wilson Northstar that pioneered the pliers demo. The machines do have iron see through but it wasn't unique or the first.
The thing to consider is that one man bands are not going to provide the back up of larger companies. Eric (Foster) is not getting any younger though Bill Crabtree in the States hopefully should be able to provide some back up. Wilson has no back up. Nautilus, Discovery, Fieldmaster even Compass, which is trying to make a comeback, often revolve round the drive of one person. There's dozens of good machines that went under for one reason or another while inferior brands continued. I like and have many of the "classic" detectors but they can be a real pain to keep running. |
