| Ok if and when i find anything what sort of thing would i have to report or declare.Can i keep most things i find ,permission from landowner given of course. |

There are two main areas you need to know about: the British Museum Portable Antiquities Scheme (PAS) and the Treasure Act.

Lots of reading, but it's very important to understand the whole set up. Remember that FLOs are not the enemy, but can be very helpful. If you find something stunning, the sooner you report it to them then the more favourably the Coroner will treat you in a Treasure Act inquest (but it has to be within 14 days anyway).
Your FLO may well ignore you if you ask them about everyday finds like buckles and individual hammered coins etc. They vary - some are only interested in vast hoards of international importance, wheras others might be interested in something like a nice medieval seal matrix.
