I was told today that a certain other forum has basically become the puppet forum of one of the bigger dealers (not sure whether I am allowed to name names so I won't to be on the safe side). One of the administrators runs a sub division of the company and the forum owner now has a sub division of the company as well!
That makes for non biased and fair discussions. NOT!!
If it is the case I will not be visiting anymore. there are enough ads in the mags without the forums being hijacked. |

Funny things forums and where there's money to be made objectivity can go out the window. Same with test reports even hoard finds.
I often wonder just how many finds are made with the machines claimed.
I've known of two in the last few years that were made with a brand that doesn't give out free machines so the reports were written that another brand that is more generous was used.
Sensible move I suppose but could sway someone into buying a detector thats not the best choice. |

And you will have as I did. Finally, I went with a bit of advice, a few reviews and my gut. Time will tell if I made the right choice, but certainly I am hitting many targets (yes, I guess with another machine it might be argued that I would hit more) and some of them have been crackers, so I'm happy so far. I also figure things can only get better as I get to know the machine better. I went with the Sovereign GT and even though it is supposed to be pants with ploughed soil, I still found two silver Georgian coins with it during a recent club outing and in plough! They were the best finds of the day and there were many different machines there. It is hard choosing, but make your choice, be happy with and get to know it. |
