Just bought a set of second hand predator ml headphones, they work fine but they have a slightly higher volume on one side (maybe i'm more mutten jeff in one side than the other).
Question, on one earpiece is an outside volume control, inside the other is a screw adjuster, is this to adjust the volume to compensate and even them up in volume or for something else? i didn't get any paper work with the phones so i thought it best to ask first rather than naff them up. |

There's three types of Predators (four if you count the really loud Timberwolf Predators from the U.S.).
As far as I can remember they all had a tiny waterproof volume control on the cup with the cable coming out and the stereo/mono switch was tucked away in the earmuff.
Early Predators quite good. Then I think they were improved and people were not happy, then the Excelsior version thats sold today, replaced the previous ones.
If they were some brands I would say that moisture has affected the cone on one side but they all had mylar cones so that shouldn't be the problem.
Just in case its your hearing just put them on back to front and see if there's any difference. |

Seems like its sorted itself with a bit of sweat in there
the switch inside seams to change the volume considerably, one way i need the things up full, the other way on minimum(phew, good job you need to take em off to change the switch) maybe the quieter is the sterio and the loud the mono, either way they don't work on the 1220R but fine on the tesoro.
The only thing writen on the outside is Predator ML on each cup
the headset is all green if this helps |

Thats the originals then with the lead that 'exceeds U.S. military specifications' and has zero memory.
When are we going to get a write up on your 1220R ?

Hmm, don't think i'm competent enough to do a writeup, plus the fact i've only tried it a couple of times, from first impretions it seems a bit heavy or out of balance for some reason compared to the tesoro and the predetor headphones dont work on it either(although i have another set of philips that do so its not the plug)not as deep as the tesoro on most stuff other than on minute golden aluminium paper balls(from fag packets) Ahh i nearly forgot, the user manual sucks, complete waste of paper for a novice, the only phrase i found helpful was how to reset it to factory settings after i had been messing about a bit
Maybe i'll give it a bit more time before i flog it, a couple of hours is not really a testI will say my son prefers it........... to digging up my finds |

Pretty normal for headphones. In the old days before Gary's hair went white you had stereo or mono. Now we have the same but they could be true stereo, parallel tip ring, tip ring sleeved, series tipped ring. Its hard to make something that copes with the lot.
Any detector seems heavy compared with the Tesoro's since the uMax series and being unbalanced can ruin the detecting experience.
Very suprised that C-Scope after all these years can't produce good instructions. I thought that would be a problem with the T2's but their book is very good. |
