| Wotcha - What made you choose Andy's straight shaft over the Minelab one? Andy's need any mods? Just curious as I might like to change. Thanks. |

Thanks, but I meant choosing Andy's straight shaft over the Minbelab straight one - not stock! |

Easy answer for me. Minelab didn't produce one at the time.
You often find that its not until third parties start producing an item that the big companies finally stir themselves into action.
One thing to check with Andy's shaft (also had it with my T2 and my Minelab Musketeer so its common) is that there's not a burr on the inside of the shaft holes. I had one, so just ran a dowel down to take it off.
I also treated myself to a U.S. armrest, stainless steel and unbreakable. This came in at £12 but they don't post over here so find a friend and get them to send it on. The Minlab rest fits but combines the stand in one unit so you either have to cut it off or mount the control box in front and I wanted it at the rear to balance the big coils. |

| Okay, ta. If there's nothing to be gained from Andy's, then it's probably easier to go with Minelab's. Thanks! |

There's a big 'straight' and modified shafts business in America.
These range from cheap steel through to beautiful stainless.
A few manufacturers for anyone taking a holiday over there are
Babbs
Florida Straight shafts
Mikes
Anderson's
Lightening Rod (good name but I didn't like as much as others)
Babbs are good but expensive, Mikes good, Florida I've seen but not tried, Andersons are good and have a huge range. Well worth looking at their site to see the various options for a range of machines. |

You should see the latest ones. Cool.
Like everything else, they have come a long way since the first ones. |
