If you just need to light a low powered light bulb for a few minutes then this may be suitable. One of my mates bought one a couple of years ago - he said it was a complete waste of money. I am sure it will work on normal rechargeables fine but throw aways rely on a chemical reaction to make their voltage.

Surely if its a load of crap they can be done by the trade description act, although having said that ebay tends to turn a blind eye to their good sellers, i was thinking of it mainly to charge my 2700mah sanyo as the charger i have takes ages rather than 4-5 hours. It does say it recharges the alkaline to between 75 and 90% depending on the make but as i don't know naff all about the way they function i couldn't say.

Ed i bought an Innovations charger years ago and it works superbly.. recharges alkalines several times and they work as well as new.

i must add though that it will only work on batteries that have been in high consumption items like explorers Very Happy

That's good. I don't know if it is the same one but I do remember looking at an innovations one which was quite sophisiticated with intelligent voltage management etc.

A little off topic.
If you have a rechargable that refuses to take a charge either try a cheap charger that hasn't got all the modern features but just shoves the charge in and if that doesn't work stick the cell/cells in the freezer for a couple of days.
Supposedly this breaks up crystals that have formed and it may then take a charge.
Defrost completely first. I've tried this a few times and it has worked on some batteries but not others but worth a try if their about to be scrapped.

That sounds like a great tip - especially if they are at "the last chance saloon" Smile
