| welcome asti new to detecting myself not sure about the detectors you are looking at but think you would get a better machine second hand off ebay from a recognised brand good luck. |

neither of them to be honest mate. as has already been said better off going for a known brand..XP, tesoro, whites or minelab etc.
a decent second hand machine should be around £200+ which would serve you well |

yes i think a second hand machine is the right option for starting out,???should be able to get a second hand laser rapier 4 about?? 170-180-ish delivered to your house of ebay,this machine will not be knocked, not even of the so called detecting pros  |

| i think that the garrett is a wise choice-they are so popular for a good reason-there good-so many people now have them that any advice is easily forthcoming-if you get hooked you can buy a bigger coil and search deeper-i love mine and i dont think that ,for the price, there is a better value detector on the market.(second hand ones are becoming more common on ebay) : |

| well done-now find a local club and join- most detectorists are very social animals and should make you feel welcome-they will most likely have a club site that you can cut your teeth on-check aerial maps of your area on tinternet and seek permission on anything that looks interesting-oh and by the way,welcome to one of the most fascinating pastimes around today. |
