|
|
Right smack bang on top of a hill which I am very interested in searching there are 4 or 5 radio/phone/TV masts that cause severe interference to my MD and make it sound like I'm listening to an out of tune 56k modem.
Is there any possible and feasible way to shield the MD to prevent this?
Are these 'waves' effecting the electrics or the coil?
Can I wrap it in tin foil and maybe my head to help it?
Cheers. |

I think your machine runs at 5.7 kHz as you switch on with the adjustment range being around 5.5 to 6 ?
The adjustment was really to allow interference from other machines at rallies to be eliminated not R.F. from masts.
Unfortunately I think your stuck with the problem as it will be picked up through the coil. With a machine with adjustable Pre-Amp you could drop that to reduce outside interference but you don't have that option so if its a good area you really need to get a machine thats away from these frequencies.
Interesting about the batteries in your other post. I would have thought you would have needed both. Fisher did go in for doubling up on battery power to extend the detecting period. The CZ20 and CZ 5/6/6a used the same circuit and had the same performance even though the 20 had twice the amount of PP3's but as it was a diving version they must have felt that an extended running time was necessary. |

Thanks for your input Brian.
Concerning the batteries, I have yet to try it over an extended period. I'll give it a field test this weekend when I persist with the same interference ridden area. |
