|
|
My Grandad has just let me borrow his Laser Rapier but has lost the book and forgotten what the dials do. All he can tell me about it was that it is a cracking little machine to start with.
It has a Sensitivity dial, seems staight forward enough; a Disc level dial, for discriminating unwanted finds maybe?? A threshold dial, haven't worked that one out either, and a pin point button.
Can anyone please tell me what the dials are for and how to use them correctly?
I live near an old roman settlement, we seem to be littered with finds and detectorists, and want to get out and about with my two kids to get them outdoors and interested in something other than video games! |

disc level is as you suggest to reject unwated items.. ( no higher than 2 to knock out nails only)
to set threshold switch the machine to all metal (flick switch) and turn the threshold until you have a faint hum then its set.. switch back to disc and its ready to go..
ther pinpoint biutton is for when you get a good clear two way signal while in disc, press the pinpoint button and it switches the machine into all metal which enables you to move the coil to the exact spot of the find..
just a word fo caution... the Rapier is a motion machine which basically means while searchin in disc mode the coil has to be kept moving in order for it to register a target.. it can be moved very slowly but do not pause it over the signal or the sound will vanish..
hope this helps and best of luck |
