not long bought this machine, was going to get the minelab xterra 50, but couldnt justify the price for a first time machine, that i may never use ,but the garrett seems ok, im a novice but its easy to use, very good on coins, found a pound coin a few inches down in the garden the 1st time i used it,i found the pin point and depth spot on, so much so i cut and dug to the exact spot the coin was in,ill take it out this weekend and put it through its paces, but for a 1st timer starting out in the hobby it sure looks a good enty level bit of kit Smile

took it out today in hostile enviroment, there was pinging all over the shop, ya cant dig every where or it will look like a mole invasion has started, where i went today id only expect to find junk any ways, but wanted to give it a run out, only tried pinpoint on surface coins, doing it buried is a lot harder, dug where i figured pinpoint to be, only to get the beep 10 " the other side of my plug??????? after id dug,not sure how accurate the depth reading is either, seems to change every time i swing the target? Question

took it out again today,it can behave quite oddly, had a good tone ,dug it,the tone then dissapeared, then the tone reappeared 10" the other side of the original hit?i dug that, lifted the plug.nothing, then the tone sounded 10" further on, hard to work out,but if it bleeps theres usually something there to dig, though my dig site looked like a world war 1 trech system today, some areas have so many bleeps that u cant dig em all, this machine will bark all nite at tin foil, and iron, but gold, bronze, 50p coins can all be detected as ring pulls its hard to prioritise what u dig for,tis a good machine but takes getting used to,
